Biography of Acting
Nafeesa grew up on the stage of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre in Northern California, where she appeared in over 20 stage productions, from the age of 11 to 20. Some of her starring roles include Ronnette in Little Shop of Horrors, Fastrada in Pippin, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Super Star, and Helena in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Julia in The Wedding Band, to name a few.
In her college years at Wesleyan University, Nafeesa featured in the student films "Malled Over," and "Coming Out." Her theatre roles include Lady in Purple in for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbo is enuf, Ophelia in Hamlet Machine, and Angel in Jose Rivera's Marisol.
In Los Angeles, she studied with Martin Barter at the Meisner-Carville School of Acting. In film, she has starred in the features "A State of Mind" and "The Truth, The Pain, The Sacrifice: An Actor's Reality." She most recently had a supporting role in the independent feature film "Naked Brown Men". She has co-starred on shows such as "In the House," "The Parkers," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "The Steve Harvey Show," "Hang Time," and "The Martin Show." Her theatre credits include A. LaShaun Lee in Company Policy, by Micahel Ajakwe, Jr., Melanie in Girl Talk, and an award winning performance in the ensemble cast of Levy Lee Simon's For The Love of Freedom, Part I, Toussaint: The Soul.
In New York, Nafeesa appeared as Sheyla Duvall in the world premiere of John Mailer's Hello Herman, on Off Off Broadway.
A seasoned actress at a young age, Nafeesa intends to conquer the world of entertainment with her talent and love for the art of acting.
